CreditBureaux.us is a valuable resource for all U.S. consumers. Everything you need to know about protecting your identity, understanding your credit score, and how to handle identity theft can be found here. Review by Heather Bridges Topich
CreditBureaux.us is an informative, official-looking website that walks you step-by-step through understanding your credit score and obtaining a credit report. Comprised of four categories (Free Credit Report, Credit Report Info, Identity Theft, and Credit Score), it is extremely easy to use.
You might have heard that you have the right to receive a free credit report once a year under United States law, but do you know how to access it? The front page of this website tells the reader that the three major credit reporting companies have formed a coalition that allows consumers to request their information from the Annual Credit Report Request Service via phone or mail. Readers can also learn what information is included on a credit report (late payments, bankruptcies, loan requests) as well as what is not (social security number, income, criminal background). Almost hidden within the Credit Score area is a link on the left toolbar to a separate section entitled “How you can Establish and Maintain Good Credit?” This outlines several hints on protecting your good credit score (for instance, reading your monthly statements).
Perhaps the most useful addition to the site is the area on what to do in case of identity theft. The writer even gives a sample letter that can be customized and sent to the credit reporting agencies when this crime happens.
There are a few minor grammatical and spelling errors on the site, but they will not be especially bothersome to most readers.
All U.S. consumers can benefit from this website. It should be comforting to know that the site owner of CreditBureaux.us is looking out for your financial well-being!
