Enlisted.info gives the reader access to over 220 declassified manuals produced by the United States Army as well as a soldier code of conduct, rank charts, and glossary of military terms.

Enlisted.info contains a wealth of information in over 220 declassified Army manuals, available for download in .pdf format. Topics posted to the site range from Terrain Analysis and Civil Disturbances to Health Service Support in a Theater of Operations.

The site has a fierce, commanding, very professional black and gray header showing a couple Google ads (there are also Google ads on the right sidebar). The front page also contains a glossary of military terms and a list of unofficial Marine Corps terms. Both of these are accessible by clicking on the first letter of the word. It would also be useful to view a list of all terms.

The left sidebar gives links to U.S. Army information. At the top of this list is the code of conduct. Readers of this might be surprised that over half of this relates to being captured in battle.

The main focus of the website is on the Army training manuals. All manuals are available free to registered users of the site (registration is also free). The manuals are arranged by title number, so unless the reader knows the title number of the information for which they are searching, it might take some time to find the proper manual. A search box would be a welcome addition to this website, especially since the front page of the site notes that the owners are continually growing and welcome manuals from readers.

An unofficial site, the owner seems to wish to remain anonymous, as there is nothing indicating why the site was created or by whom. There is a contact form should the reader want to submit a field manual or give feedback.

FreeLetters.com is wide-ranging enough to provide services not only to business owners but to job hunters and customers of businesses as well. By Heather Bridges Topich

FreeLetters.info provides over 600 letters on topics ranging from trademarks and late payments to shareholder holiday letters and interview requests. The front page shows recent additions to the site as well as the most popular letters (”Welcome New Customer” currently appears on both lists). The site has an interesting titlebar- a picture of a subway station. Obviously, one might envision business people riding the subway to work. However, subways are more commonly used by all people, and this website certainly can benefit all people.

The letters are split into two lists, based on where the first letter of the title appears in the alphabet, but I would imagine that almost all readers will utilize the search box in the top right corner of the page.

Businesses will use the site for listings such as “Pre-Employment Checklist,” “Withdrawal of Credit on Past Due Account,” and “Customer Incentive Program Announcement.” Others will find “Response to Invoice Received After Payment” and “Request for Employment Interview” useful in everyday life.

Users will love the professional image that FreeLetters.info helps one portray. One would not be surprised if this site continues to grow and draw to itself increased attention.

DevilDogs.cc provides an unofficial list of U.S. Marine Corps terms by Heather Bridges Topich

DevilDogs.cc is an unofficial list of United States Marine Corps terms, presumably created by a current or former Marine. There is no information as to who created the website, but it does note at the bottom of the page that the list was edited by someone affiliated with the Air Force. The terms are accessible by clicking on the first letter of the word (unfortunately, there is not a search box). The page defaults to the “R” page, where the reader will see explanations of “R and R,” “Rack,” and “Railroad Tracks.” On the plain side, the site is easy to use and serves it’s purpose- as a dictionary of terms. Obviously the tediousness of creating something like this shows that it must have been a labor of love for the site’s creator.

PhysicallyTrained.com has two main areas: U.S. Army Physical Fitness Training and U.S. Army Fitness Handbook.

PhysicallyTrained.com gives the reader an inside look at the physical fitness training of U.S. troops in addition to a healthy eating guide, an article on exercise-related injuries, and guidelines for preparing for specialized fitness tests. By Heather Bridges Topich

PhysicallyTrained.com has two main areas: U.S. Army Physical Fitness Training and U.S. Army Fitness Handbook. There are links on the left side of the page to each chapter of the two manuals. The front page is very official and gets right to the point- simply listing these chapters and providing the purpose of each book.

The U.S. Army Physical Fitness Training manual starts off by describing how keeping in shape affects a soldier’s readiness for combat and ability to be a good leader. There are also chapters covering muscular endurance, body composition, nutrition, and exercise drills. The reader is given guidelines of what to expect during boot camp and details on the Army Physical Fitness Test.

The Fitness Handbook begins with first explaining the principals of physical fitness and then providing chapters on fitness assessments and diagnostic tests. There are chapters on exercising each part of the body as well as suggested training programs for Airborne School and Air Assault School physical tests.

PhysicallyTrained.com is easy to use and serves as a valuable fitness resource for those that plan to enter the Army or simply want a regimented exercise plan.

CreditBureaux.ca is a valuable resource for all Canadian consumers. Everything you need to know about protecting your identity, understanding your credit score, and how to handle identity theft can be found here.

CreditBureaux.ca is an informative, official-looking website that walks you step-by-step through understanding your credit score and obtaining a credit report. Comprised of four categories (Free Credit Report, Credit Report Info, Identity Theft, and Credit Score), it is extremely easy to use.

You might have heard that you have the right to review your credit report at no charge under Canadian law, but do you know how to receive it? The front page of this website gives the reader addresses of the two major credit reporting companies as well as the form and types of identification that must accompany it. In the section on Credit Report Info, readers can learn what information is included on a credit report (social insurance number, bankruptcies, loan requests) as well as what is not (medical history, business accounts). There is even a matrix of information given on the report and how long the data are stored by the agencies.

The section on Credit Score is especially detailed. There is an in-depth look at the factors affecting credit and how each is factored into the overall credit score. Almost hidden within the Credit Score area is a link on the left toolbar to a separate section entitled “How you can Establish and Maintain Good Credit?” This outlines several hints on protecting your good credit score (for instance, reading your monthly statements).

Perhaps the most useful addition to the site is the area that explains identity theft: what it is, how to prevent it, and what to do when you discover that the crime has been committed.

All Canadian consumers can benefit from this website. It should be comforting to know that the site owner of CreditBureaux.ca is looking out for your financial well-being!

SpeedingTicketHelp.info is a useful and, as appropriate, entertaining website that should be read by any driver that tends to drive above posted speed limits.

SpeedingTicketHelp.info gives the reader information on all things related to speeding, including radar detectors, driver rights, and what to expect in court. Reviewed by Heather Bridges Topich.

SpeedingTicketHelp.info is a comprehensive website that drivers should read before being caught speeding. The site is easy to use, well-organized, and has minimal ads. Major topics are set along the right side of the page and include Planning, Driver Rights, and Your Time in Court. The site starts off by giving the reader tips on how to avoid being ticketed for speeding: drive a nondescript vehicle, use electronic equipment to detect radar (if legal), be aware of places where police cars may be hiding, and drive in the right lane.

The writer gives valuable advice on what to do when pulled over for speeding: pull over as far as possible, turn off the engine, roll down the window, and put your hands on the steering wheel. He feels the most important thing is to not admit to speeding when questioned by the officer.

There are several sections on what to do after receiving a ticket. The first thing noted is to call the insurance agency to determine how your options affect your premiums. The website includes detailed descriptions on planning for a court appearance and what to expect in court (even possible cross examination questions).

One of the most interesting portions of the website can be found under “Interesting Facts,” where users can compare road speeds in different countries and view a list of roads without speed limits (hurrah!). Avid fans of driving fast will note that the highest posted speeds can generally be found on European expressways.

SpeedingTicketHelp.info is a useful and, as appropriate, entertaining website that should be read by any driver that tends to drive above posted speed limits.

CreditBureaux.us is an informative, official-looking website that walks you step-by-step through understanding your credit score and obtaining a credit report. Comprised of four categories (Free Credit Report, Credit Report Info, Identity Theft, and Credit Score), it is extremely easy to use.

You might have heard that you have the right to receive a free credit report once a year under United States law, but do you know how to access it? The front page of this website tells the reader that the three major credit reporting companies have formed a coalition that allows consumers to request their information from the Annual Credit Report Request Service via phone or mail. Readers can also learn what information is included on a credit report (late payments, bankruptcies, loan requests) as well as what is not (social security number, income, criminal background). Almost hidden within the Credit Score area is a link on the left toolbar to a separate section entitled “How you can Establish and Maintain Good Credit?” This outlines several hints on protecting your good credit score (for instance, reading your monthly statements).

Perhaps the most useful addition to the site is the area on what to do in case of identity theft. The writer even gives a sample letter that can be customized and sent to the credit reporting agencies when this crime happens.

There are a few minor grammatical and spelling errors on the site, but they will not be especially bothersome to most readers.

All U.S. consumers can benefit from this website. It should be comforting to know that the site owner of CreditBureaux.us is looking out for your financial well-being!

FootballScrimmage.com gives a good introduction to many areas of the game of football, including NFL rules, equipment worn by the players, and a history of football.

FootballScrimmage.com gives the reader an in-depth look at both college and professional football as well as a discussion forum and tips on how to play the game. By Heather Bridges Topich.

FootballScrimmage.com attempts to provide information for a wide variety of people- from those who don’t know anything about the game to those who play the game. It has a problem with organization, though, leading one to wonder if it tries to accomplish too much by covering the game at all levels. The site would be far easier to use if reorganized into some major categories, such as Rules, Strategy, Terminology, and History. The NFL rules currently have one major section and can also be found under “Rules of the Game” and “Different Rules of Playing Football.”

As do many blogs, FootballScrimmage.com has a very basic and somewhat bland layout but is not difficult to use. It would be nice to see some graphics, possibly a matrix of the differences in rules between the sport’s variations or general look at where players line up on the field. The website has five areas: About Football, Official NFL Rules, Tip & Resources, Football Forums, and Football Links. You’ll notice the grammatical error in the third title, which, given it’s prominent location, should alert you to the fact that there are also other editorial problems to the site. I would recommend that the site owner find a good proofreader to clean up the imperfections.

Potentially one of the best areas of the site is the forum, where recent topics were “HS Football preparing young men for the rest of their lives?” and “High Tech hits player uniforms”. The article with the differences between college, NFL, and other variations of football is helpful for those who are still learning about the sport.

FootballScrimmage.com gives a good introduction to many areas of the game of football, including NFL rules, equipment worn by the players, and a history of football. Overall however, FootballScrimmage doesn’t have much to offer that couldn’t already be found in more detail elsewhere on the web.
